MACS Singers promoting the needs of young people

MACS is a local charity dedicated to helping children and young
people who have not had a fair deal
Supported Housing
MACS offer Supported Housing in 3 locations: Belfast, Downpatrick and Newry and will be opening another in Lisburn later this year. Our accommodation is available to 16 - 21 year olds who have been care experienced or homeless. We offer 24 hour support to young people to help them develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to live on their own and develop networks and support to meet their specific needs and keep safe. "MACS helped me after I was thrown out of the house, stayed between friends and sometimes even out on the street. The workers at MACS were there for me when I felt like others weren't" Quote from young person in MACS Housing
Floating Support
MACS work to prevent youth homelessness in the community. MACS Floating Support Team helps young people find accommodation, set up and maintain their home, learn to be a good neighbour, manage money and stay safe. "Since I have been working with my MACS Worker, I have found my life has become easier as I have someone who I can turn to when life gets tough. My worker has supported me with getting a house and helped me with all the issues I have had with my tenancy, I could not have managed without her support and I am so thankful that because of her I now have more contact with my son which I didn't dream would happen". Quote from young person getting support
Wellbeing Support Service
MACS Wellbeing Support Service supports young people at risk of suicide, self harm or who have problems with their mental health. At MACS we train amazing volunteers who are committed to making a difference in our young people's lives. Mentors and young people are matched on common interests and meet weekly. Mentoring offers young people a chance to build confidence believe in themselves and try new things with the support of a positive role model. "My confidence has increased during my time with my mentor, I have attended organisational events and my self harm has really reduced. I am also taking part in a course and gaining new qualifications." Quote from young person

Led By You
Led By You is a leadership program aimed at disadvantaged young people aged 11 - 25 where we facilitate opportunities for them to engage in all aspects of organisational development to ensure MACS is being led by young people. Led By You has three strands (Advocate, Educate and Participate) to develop young people?s personal and professional skills to enable them to be Leaders in MACS and their communities.
"I really enjoyed attending the forums that Participate Now set up, meeting people I would never normally meet and I am excited about having someone my own age to go to events in MACS with." Young Participant in MACS Youth Forum
